About Us

The Wellington Section

The Wellington section of the New Zealand Alpine Club has a large, active membership. We run both rock and alpine courses each year and provide support to help members develop their climbing skills. An annual photo competition takes place in the middle of the year, providing budding photographers with an opportunity to show off their skills and win a prize or two.

Volunteering

We’re always thankful for volunteers and members stepping forward to help the section run smoothly. A lot goes on to keep our club going, virtually all powered by volunteers.   And if you’d like to learn more about how you could get involved, please email us at committee@wellingtonalpineclub.org.nz

Social Media

Join us on our online communities to chat about upcoming trips, gear chats or get some friendly advice. It’s respectful, inclusive and all are welcome.

Contact Us

If you contact us, please remember that we are a volunteer-run organisation. We’ll try our best to get back to you promptly, but this may take a few days, depending on how good the snow forecast looks.

Gatherings

The Wellington Section meets on the first Thursday of each month at 6pm at:

TTC Hall
4 Montcrieff Street,
Mount Vic, Wellington

Generally, the evening will consist of a brief update from the committee, a presentation about adventures in the alpine environment, a skills or information session and an opportunity to chat and network with other section members over a bite of pizza and a drink. To see what’s happening, check the latest Vertigo (our mostly monthly newsletter) or go to our Facebook and Instagram pages.
