The upper Pinnacles gullies on Whakapapa offer steep snow and mixed terrain with several pitches of climbing onto the Pinnacle Ridge before a walk off from the top. This is a pitched climbing trip requiring Snowcraft 2 or equivalent experience with snow, ice and rock anchors and two-tool technique. The group will be based at Tararua Tramping Club Hut on Friday and Saturday nights. A good trip for consolidating technical skills in serious but manageable terrain.
