At Queens Birthday weekend John Cocks, Paul Denys, Graeme Morrison and token northerner, John Nankervis, walked up 2 Mile Creek from Lake Wakatipu and crossed Skingut Pass in deep snow to one of the bivvy rocks in South Wye Creek.

Next day, despite perfect weather and skilled navigators they stared across the abyss at Point 2307M from “False Point 2307M” (Geographic Board approval pending) and retreated. Out down the South Wye under the sunny crags next day.
